This online service broadens the LexisNexis suite of evidence related materials by developing an annotated commentary of the Commonwealth Evidence Act 1995, which is at the heart of the uniform evidence regime in Australia. In its first release, this service includes the NSW Evidence Act 1995 and the Victorian Evidence Act 2008. In general these follow exactly the wording of the Commonwealth Act , but where they vary, we identify the points at which the legislation in NSW and Victoria differ by the use of Comparison Points within the legislation. There is also a full comparison table to summarise these similarities and differences. In addition to this comparison of legislation, the author team of Justice Geoffrey Bellew of the Supreme Court of New South Wales and John Arthur, Barrister and member of the Victorian Bar, has created section-by-section commentary, providing legal analysis addressing the scope and application of the provisions of each of the Acts and any material differences between them. At the end of each section references to the commentary in J D Heydon's Cross on Evidence, LexisNexis (online and looseleaf), are also provided to allow excellent access to information across LexisNexis's evidence related works. - Publisher's blurb.
