Judge's robes and hood made from violet silk with pale yellow silk facing. Hook and eye closures handsewn along centre opening. The robes are in the style of traditional summer robes or 'nisi prius robes' of English Kings/Queens Bench Division judges. During the 19th century in Queensland, some Supreme Court judges adopted this style of robes as the lighter material was better suited to the climate.
The known previous owners of these robes were Sir William Mack KBE, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Queensland (1966-1971) and the Hon Peter Connolly CBE CSI, judge of the Supreme Court of Queensland (1978-1990).
