Summary:
This edited collection is the result of a 2012 symposium on "Internationalisation, Curriculum and the Future Practice of Law" and follows the 2010 book The Internationalisation of Law: Legislation, Decision-Making, Practice and Education. With a narrower focus on what internationalisation means for legal education, the book addresses a wide range of current issues in legal education from both a practical and a theoretical perspective. There are interesting chapters on other domestic approaches to legal education, including chapters on the challenges of legal education in a developing nation such as South Africa and the process of legal education reform in Japan. Contributors from the coalface of Australian legal education discuss the practical realities of trying to internationalise the curriculum in a holistic way while complying with the requirements of the Priestly list and preparing students for the realities of legal practice in a marketplace which is rapidly oversaturated with law graduates.
