Honourable Justice Ron Merkel, Judge talks about his parents, Jewish background, childhood and early education, university life and overseas travel. He then discusses his early work experiences firstly with a law firm then at the Bar. He was involved in civil liberties work including the Victorian Aboriginal Legal Service and took silk in 1982. Merkel talks about his position on the Bench of the Federal Court and the changes he has seen over the years in the legal profession.
